Two teams, Two countries, One passion

No matter where you live, every child has the right to play- this simple premise brought together an incredible and passionate group of people, for “the game that never was”. We were honoured to play an integral role in the Pearl of Africa Series, which took place just over two months ago. With more than $100,000 raised for the Canada – Uganda Challenge in just over three months, we know this story of courage, hope and perseverance touched the lives of many.

Our campaign kicked-off in the best and most unexpected way, thanks to Rogers Sportsnet; not only did MLB Analyst and Right To Play Athlete Ambassador Gregg Zaun introduced the Ugandan Little League team’s plight during their World Series coverage, but Sportsnet also stepped up as one of the first major donors with a donation of $10,000 and a commitment to send Gregg and a camera crew to Uganda to cover the Pearl of Africa Series should the trip take place. The support we’ve received from Sportsnet has been remarkable, and we are thankful for their vision and dedication in ensuring this campaign’s success.

We are thrilled this story will be broadcast to Canadian audiences beginning Sunday, April 1st. As part of Sportsnet’s MLB Preview show, the premiere of “Fair Ball” will air at 5pm EST (2pm PST) and replay at 9pm EST.
